Balkan Women from Bulgaria, Romania, Cyprus and Hellas…
Thanks to them we inspired this project…

History...

The fundamental idea was born/ conceived in order to organize and implement a plan of action that would be addressed to the Balkan women concerning their briefing on the European subjects. The title of the project that was submitted in November 2005 from DIKEAD (Interbalkan Human Resources Development Center) as leader institution in collaboration with “Activity Foundation” (Romania) “BHRMDA” (Bulgaria) and “Invexico Consultants” (Cyprus) was “Methods to empower the role of Balkan Women as European citizens”. It is noted that the proposal in question was submitted in the General Directorate of Education and Culture no 46/05 “Promotion of active European citizenship”.

In July 2006 we were glad to be informed that our proposal has been approved and on 18 September 2006 we signed a convention with the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (number of convention 2006-0667/001-001).

Our proposal’s object was the creation of training material and the definition of educational methods that can be used by trainers, NGO executives etc in order to contribute in the acquisition of the European citizenship and empower the role of Balkan women through this informal or formal process. For the achievement of the project’s objectives, three international meetings took place in Sofia, in Resitsa (Romania) and in Limassol where various subjects, such as the web site, were discussed. This effort, that lasted several months, is completed with the organisation of the final interbalkan conference in Thessaloniki from 8th until 10th of June 2007, where the results and the web site of this program are presented.

The main goals…

  • to examine and classify the special background, needs and difficulties of women in Balkans according to their educational level, their social and economical situation.
  • to define the contain of a training material that will be adequate to support and encourage Balkan Women’s European Integration as well as to empower the role of Balkan Women as Active European Citizens.
  • to create ways to include the training material and the training methods in all kinds of associations and organisations specialised in Women’s support and development in Balkans.
  • to create a network that will always provide information, exchange opinions, experience and good practices in subjects relevant to Balkan Women European Integration.

To whom it refers…

  • representatives of Women’ Associations and Organizations in order to inform Balkan Women about their rights, their obligations and their potentials as Active European Citizens and empower them to participate actively in the Construction of a wide European Union where Balkan Voice will be loud and determinate.
  • specialists, trainers, animators and volunteer workers.
